Orange stripped oak worm moths emerge in mid-late summer, mate, and lay eggs on the underside of leaves preferably in the red oak family. After about two weeks these little creeps emerge and begin feeding on the foliage. The damage is usually slight, and marginalized to only a few areas in the crown. The biggest nuisance is these creeps can create a large amount of frass that may litter driveways and patios.
Foliar sprays provide effective control for this pest. There are also preventative systemic insecticides that may be applied.
